How a lease works

Step 1

Pick a lease-available name

Filter the portfolio by Lease available. The monthly price sits on every listing next to the purchase price.

Step 2

Pay monthly by card

The first payment starts the lease. Each month renews on the same day unless you or we give a month’s notice.

Step 3

Point it where you need

Managed DNS is included. Ask for a record change from your account and we apply it, confirmed from your inbox.

Step 4

Buy whenever you like

The name is yours outright at the listed price at any point, and your lease history counts in your favour.

Three questions people ask

What happens if the name sells while I lease it?

You hold first refusal: it is offered to you first at the listed price. If you pass, the lease ends with a month’s notice and DNS stays live until then.

Can I stop?

Yes. A month’s notice either way. Nothing needs returning; at the end of the notice month the name simply stops resolving to you.

Does leasing count toward buying?

Your lease history counts in your favour if you later buy. Ask on the domain page and we set it out for the name in question before you commit.
